Monday 9th September 2013

Our plan for today was to take the Le Tour-Col de Balme chair-lift to the top station and then walk to the Albert Refuge beside the Glacier De Tour. But when we got to the top station, we were in complete cloud and it was freezing!!! No Beanies or gloves and the thought of walking 700 metres higher to a place next to a glacier did not appeal. We spent about 15 minutes humming and haa-ing and then decided to do a smaller walk around the Col De Balme. After a while the cloudy conditions improved and the views were great.

                                       Down the valley towards Chamonix

Looking across to the Glacier de Tour but the Albert Refuge is not visible here.

Looking down from Col De Balme to our hiking trail, the Col Des Posettes and the L'Aiguillette des Posettes the top of the green hump in the middle. On  a clear day, the best vantage point in the valley for views, I reckon.
